In 2007, Matt Sheehy (Lost Lander, EL VY) took a job as a forester in the dark, rain soaked logging town of Aberdeen on the Washington state coast. His plan was to disappear into the woods and escape his failed attempts at love and at life as a professional musician. But things take a turn toward the very strange after an eccentric local man named Andy Flood reveals a dark secret (…)
…for a fantastic show. And of course to s t a r g a z e for joining in at the end. It’s not every day we have a 12 piece band in the lobby! Here are three songs filmed by ilan Cohen as well as a few photos.
We’re very happy to be welcoming Tom Adams back to the hotel next Tuesday evening. We first met Tom almost three years ago during a concert in our courtyard on a warm June night. Nils Frahm was presenting his new bespoke piano called the Una Corda, and after his performance invited any musicians in the audience to come on stage and try the piano for themselves. Tom accepted his invitation, and what followed was a (…)
Around this time last year Stefan Schneider was playing drums in our courtyard alongside the wonderful Sarah Neufeld. You can see some photos from their dynamic performance here. Stefan got in touch recently to let us know he’ll be in town soon with his band The Luyas. They’ll be playing their only Berlin show of their European tour with us next Thursday May 4th. From Montreal, Quebec, The Luyas formed in 2006. (…)
An incredible performance by amazing musicians. Here are three pieces filmed by Ilan Cohen as well as some photos from the show.
This Saturday evening our friends from Drop Everything are doing a little showcase here at the hotel. Drop Everything is a contemporary cultural biennial which takes place on the remote island of Inis Oírr, just off the west coast of Ireland. It is a platform to bring together people working in and interested in the arts, music, fashion, food, architecture, design and other creative fields. One of the main aims is to create (…)
You had us in awe from the very first note. Here’s the video and a couple of images from a sublime performance of endless breath.
Oh man…the first musical experience in our hotel following the pure magic wonder of Michelberger Music. Still impossible to find words, and even more impossible to envision regular shows in our lobby. LUCKILY…. Colin hit us up. He would have been part of the festival, if he wasn’t already booked for a gig on the same weekend in New York. He almost flew in for a couple of hours. Same (…)
To all the artists, guests and staff that made our 24 hour Piano Day concert so special, we thank you. We’ve just received the video our friend Stephan from Hauskonzerte made, and it was worth the wait. Here it is, as well as some photos we took.
When we first heard about our The National friends Ben, Scott and Bryan LNZDRFing us, we had very little idea what to expect. With excitement and awe we are awaiting the trilogy of performances in Grüner Salon (23rd Feb), Kantine am Berghain (25th Feb) and Cassiopeia (26th Feb). This music gets you. It sticks…the dreaminess, the tempo and the deeply hidden underlying positivity…. music that makes you feel good although you don’t (…)
