World Peace
by doing the Work

Through a friend we encountered Byron Katie. Katie has a tool box that enables everyone to nothing less then reaching WORLD PEACE. By starting with yourself. Thoughts, thought very often, became beliefs, and those in a bundle become belief systems. Starting to question your thoughts on things and people is the road to end any suffering and to connect with every moment as it would be your first. That of ()

Dear
Volker

Usually the most inspiring people are also the most humble ones. Local legend Volker wears many colourful caps: carer, musician, restauranteur, DJ… but you’ll never hear him shouting about it! You can also add graphic designer to that list. Once in a while a crazy flyer turns up in our inboxes, always raising a smile. Here’s a collection of our favourites from down the years. Get well soon Volker!

Pair – Thank you
Lukas

It was wonderful to have Lukas Mraz cooking in our kitchen last night. He presented a beautiful and inspiring 8 course menu to 17 guests in the Whiskey Room, with paired wines selected by Emily. Thank you Lukas!

Our New
Bar

Last week we closed off our bar for five days and operated service out of the lobby. In the small hours of Saturday morning, a beautiful new, all-the-mod-cons, proper cocktail bar emerged from the dust! Our clever cocktail team have come up with some new additions for the list: Drew’s creation is the fountain of youth rum punch, made with hazelnut, honey, lime and coconut. And Jan’s contribution is the ()

Liima
1982

On November 3rd the new album from Liima comes out. Called 1982, the first single (and title track) was written right here at the hotel! At the end of summer last year Casper, Rasmus, Tatu and Mads stayed with us for a week and spent their time up on the fourth floor in the Overlook, writing, rehearsing and playing new music. At the end of the week they played a ()

Georgian
Supra

Traditions surrounding food and wine are deeply rooted in the culture of Georgia. The ultimate Georgian occasion is the supra, or feast, and on Sunday 22nd October we’ll hold our own version – a long and late lunch in the restaurant with some of our Georgian friends. A few months ago our wine director Emily travelled to Georgia to explore the rich and vibrant diversity in both food and wine ()

Behind the
tree

We were really pleased to hear about an alternative film viewing platform where filmmakers can be paid fairly for their work. Even cooler that it was started here in Berlin by a Michelberger, our first ever event manager Nico who worked at the hotel in 2009 / 2010. Behind the tree is a streaming platform available in Germany for independent and arthouse films only. Users rent the film and can ()

Copenhaven
Report

Some magic happened last weekend in Copenhagen. A part of the hotel and the monkey team banded together to explore the HAVEN Festival. Equipped with super duper bikes the journey through the city began with a wonderful dinner Thursday evening and some nice drinks at the temporary HAVEN Bar in the heart of the city. Strengthened by a huge breakfast the first festival day started with an exceptional opening: The ()
