New
Wheels

A while ago we spotted some seriously good looking bikes around Berlin. They were from Rakete, who make all their bikes here in the city, and make them to last. They’re a dream to ride and we’re really happy that now our hotel guests get to experience some two wheeled joy too! We have a small fleet of these beauties which can be rented from reception.

Time to
Chai

Clemence from the bar has come up with a delightfully spicy chai recipe for these chilly days. She was never a fan of the beverage herself, but on her travels in India was persuaded by a persistent waiter to give it a try. This particular brew was peppery, fragrant and bursting with spices and her opinion was changed. Clemence has created a Michelberger version of the beverage, made by crushing ()

Little things:
Shopping Mall Yes or No

Our new neighbours…they haven’t formally introduced themselves, but they are sending secret messages through the ground water. For some technical ground water fighting style, probably necessary to build 5 additional stories below the ground, our hotel gets water signals every 5 seconds. (Including the eye surgeon building next door). First Azar, the Pen, our creative director noticed, when the lines he put on paper, started resembling a seismograph. Warschauer Strasse ()

Taking a look at some new crockery options for the restaurant…

News from
the kitchen

Our major kitchen renovation is entering the home straight and the job will soon be done. But it’s not just the hardware that has been overhauled. During the last weeks, Alan, Julian and the crew have taken the opportunity to look at every aspect of how the restaurant runs to see what can be tweaked, improved or renewed. New wines have been tested, crockery has been compared, service has studied ()

Little Scream
Live

Little Scream – AKA Montreal based multi-instrumentalist, writer, and visual artist Laurel Sprengelmeyer – has just released her second album, titled Cult Following. And on Tuesday 28th June she’ll be bringing her own brand of grand-scale indie pop to the hotel for a show in our courtyard. Her music is lush and expansive and draws heavily on personal experiences – one of them being growing up “in a kind of Christian religious ()

Heading out
to pasture

It served as a bar, backstage, storage, tv hanger and glühwein hut but is now retiring with Eric’s friend in the suburbs.

Michelberger’s
Pacific Rim Restaurant

Starting tomorrow (4th May) and for the next 6 weeks only we’re turning our restaurant upside down. Firstly we’re refurbishing our kitchen to bring it up to the level of the cooking. Secondly, whilst doing so, we decided to have some fun along the way: We’ll stay open for dinner with our pop-up Bangkok street-style courtyard kitchen, Pacific Rim. Alan and his team will throw volcanic fire rocks onto the menu ()

New
Cocktails

It’s officially spring in Berlin, however the chill in the air at night reminds us that winter has not completely left us. So with that in mind, the bar team have created a cocktail menu that plays to both seasons…It’s divided into two sections: citrus based and refreshing, and strong and boozy. Here’s a drink from each… The Green Fairy was created by Clemence, and sits in the former category. ()
