Tom Gatza is a young musician from Hamburg who over the past year or so has come in and played our piano as life in the lobby continued around. Tom is about to release his debut EP Melo and so this time we wanted to make it a little more official! Aaron Roche is a singer-songwriter with an ear for the avant-garde. He’s a contemporary composer who sings American folk music, and an instrumentalist who works as a recording engineer. He plays guitar in the touring bands of Sufjan Stevens, Anohni and Lower Dens, and he’s composed music for the American Ballet Theatre. He’s also played trumpet with his father’s brass ensemble! On November 3rd the new album from Liima comes out. Called 1982, the first single (and title track) was written right here at the hotel! At the end of summer last year Casper, Rasmus, Tatu and Mads stayed with us for a week and spent their time up on the fourth floor in the Overlook, writing, rehearsing and playing new music. We were really pleased to hear about an alternative film viewing platform where filmmakers can be paid fairly for their work. Even cooler that it was started here in Berlin by a Michelberger, our first ever event manager Nico who worked at the hotel in 2009 / 2010.
