We enjoyed hosting the Whiskey Room Kino so much over Christmas time, we’ve decided to keep it going. We’re doing so together with Behind the Tree, a streaming platform available in Germany for independent and arthouse films. It’s a platform not only with great films but one that ensures the filmmakers are paid fairly too. We’re really pleased to now be offering a yoga class each Monday evening for our hotel guests in our serene studio up on the second floor. At 6:30pm Jadi leads us through a class which is both a relaxing and powerful way to start the week. Jadi is a dancer, choreographer and yoga teacher and the integration between body, mind and spirit is integral to her practice. She studies Nada and Mudra yoga and (…)
Every evening at 6pm between the 22 and 31 December we’re turning our Whiskey Room into a movie theatre. We’ve created a program together with Behind the Tree of all the films we like to watch at this time of the year. For hotel guests and visitors alike. Free entry and popcorn for everyone. Last week we closed off our bar for five days and operated service out of the lobby. In the small hours of Saturday morning, a beautiful new, all-the-mod-cons, proper cocktail bar emerged from the dust! Our clever cocktail team have come up with some new additions for the list: Drew’s creation is the fountain of youth rum punch, made with hazelnut, honey, lime and coconut. From the 27th onwards, our bar will be extra cosy and vibrant, with excitement building as we near the border of the new year. It’s one of the most beautiful times in Berlin. With many folks leaving the city, it’s only the warm core of Berliners wandering the city streets. We met Ramin when he was here for Michelberger Music, alongside Vincent Moon and his crew of filmmakers. A couple of weeks ago Ramin told us about a special project he has been working on… One year ago I sailed on a sail boat around the South Pacific and when our boat broke, I was stranded on a small Island. Thank you Bo and Lasse of I’m a KOMBO, and their helpers Ditte and Mie, for bringing your re-imagined Döner Shop to the hotel. With sugar salted chicken, lobster salad, grilled asparagus and pickled onions, it was unlike any Döner we’ve had before! And who doesn’t love toasting their dessert on a stick afterwards!?
Starting tomorrow (4th May) and for the next 6 weeks only we’re turning our restaurant upside down. Firstly we’re refurbishing our kitchen to bring it up to the level of the cooking. Secondly, whilst doing so, we decided to have some fun along the way: We’ll stay open for dinner with our pop-up Bangkok street-style courtyard kitchen, Pacific Rim.
